“Not detected,” often abbreviated as “ND,” means that the substance was not detected under the stated test method and detection limit. It should not be interpreted as an absolute guarantee that the substance is completely absent.
Buyers should review the complete supporting report when a project or target market has specific chemical compliance requirements.
7. Compare Fire Performance Correctly
Fire classifications must be reviewed together with the test standard and product configuration.
Before comparing two products, buyers should confirm:
- The applicable fire test standard
- Whether the product is classified as a wall or flooring material
- Product thickness and construction
- Surface treatment
- Substrate and backing
- Installation method
- Whether the result applies to the final ordered model
